VOLUNTARY organisations from across the Vale enjoyed entertainment and helped raise vital funds to help support the Vale Foodbank.

A Festive Concert , organised by Vale Centre for Voluntary Services (VCVS), took place at Barry Memorial Hall, where guests could also find out about two of VCVS’s projects, the Heritage Lottery Fund project, Barry a New Community and the Big Lottery Fund project Friendly AdvantAGE.

Superstars in the Making and Barry Tenovus Sing With Us choir gave performances.

Executive director of VCVS, Rachel Connor said: “This event was an excellent opportunity for local organisations to support the work of the Vale Foodbank, to be entertained by some wonderful local artists and to learn more about our lottery funded projects.

“All in all it was a successful evening of entertainment combined with the practical side of supporting local people facing hardship at this time of year.”

She added: “We are grateful to Unity Trust Bank who helped sponsor the event. The voluntary sector is diverse - events such as this demonstrate how the sector supports local people in the most practical of ways.”
