MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Barry and Inner Wheel came together on the evening of Tuesday, December 17, for a carol service with the residents of Orchard House, off Colcot Road, Barry.

Rotary Club president elect Robin Pitcher welcomed everyone on this special evening.

After the opening carol, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ Rotarian Mike Righton read a few verses from the Bible. Pianist for the evening was Rotarian Meirion Evans who had also prepared the evening’s programme.

Other carols included ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, ‘It came Upon the Midnight Clear’, ‘Silent Night,’ and ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem.’ These were interspersed with two humorous items read by Inner Wheel members Eryl Evans and Beth Longley and a musical contribution from Katy Brownjohn and her friend Lily. Father Christmas also made a surprise appearance as everyone sang ‘Jingle Bells’. After the final carol, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing,’ president elect Robin thanked the residents and staff of Orchard House for such a warm welcome and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
