BUDDING Paxmans and Warks from a Barry school took on the challenge of quizzing a Vale Council cabinet member recently.

Year 11 pupils from St Richard Gwyn RC school questioned Vale cabinet member for Children’s Service and Schools, Cllr Chris Elmore who visits the school regularly to take part in a Q&A as part of the student’s studies to achieve the Welsh Baccalaureate.

The youngsters quizzed him on issues from the services provided by the Vale Council to the international tax system.

Cllr Elmore said: “It’s very important that young people get to speak to local politicians as often as possible to gain an understanding of the work we do on a daily basis, as well as discussing the wider question of politics and government. The Q&As are always enjoyable at St Richard Gwyn and this one was no different with the topics of discussion very wide ranging from votes for 16 year olds to whether or not people pay enough tax in the UK.”
