BARRY Male Voice Choir musical director Dorothy Connell has presented £2,000 to the Barry Dock RNLI lifeboat station following the success of a concert she organised for the charity.
Along with the choir chairman Gareth, she organised a Memorial Hall concert featuring the famous London Welsh Male Voice Choir which such a great success that the choir has indicated it would be willing to return for a second performance in the future.
Choristers were provided with a meal before the concert by volunteer fundraisers of the Barry Dock lifeboat station and were so pleased with the hospitality, they serenaded the fundraisers with a private concert before the main event.
Dorothy and Gareth presented the cheque to the chair of the fundraising group and declared that the event was hard work but well worth it.
The £2,000 raised will enable the volunteer crew to continue to save lives at sea. The charity saves 21 lives a day across the UK and is funded only by the generosity of the public.
