ON SUNDAY, November 24, The Most Reverend Dr Barry Morgan, Archbishop of Wales attended a special service at All Saints’ Church Barry.
The special service, which included three baptisms and 33 confirmations of the Church in Wales, was completed by the re-dedication of the organ, for which £70,000 had been raised for crucial repairs over two-and-a-half years.
The service also included the opening of the Book of Donors which is now on display All Saints’ Church. After the service Archbishop Barry joined members of the congregation in celebration with a special cake made for the occasion by Barbara Butts and a glass of bubbly in the church hall.
On display in the church hall is a record of the many events held during the organ appeal and a journal of photographs recording the organ restoration work compiled by Ray Price and Liz Matthews. Special thanks to Suzanne Grover for the superb presentation of the Book of Donors and display in the church hall.
On Saturday, February 1, 2014, Canon Graham Holcombe, organist at Llandaff Cathedral, will be giving a free lunchtime organ recital which has been organised as a thank you to all donors and supporters of the organ appeal.
