NATIONWIDE bakery shop chain Greggs has set its sights on Barry with a proposal to open a third outlet and create eight jobs.
An application to construct a new single-storey retail unit adjacent to Briscombe Cleaning Services, on Cardiff Road, has been lodged with Vale planners.
A Greggs spokesman confirmed the company had submitted an application for planning permission to open one of its new style bakery food-on-the-go format shops in an out-of-town location.
He said: "We believe this new location will serve to compliment the two shops we already operate in the town and meet growing demand, whilst creating eight new jobs in the process."
