HUNDREDS of people turned out in Barry to remember service people past and present on Sunday, November 10.

Residents of all generations lined the annual parade route from King Square, along Holton Road, to witness former and current service people, officials, and representatives from youth organisations.

A wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Memorial to the Merchant Seamen of Barry, outside the Civic Offices, Holton Road, before the contingent moved on to the Cenotaph, outside the Barry Memorial Hall.

MP Alun Cairns and AM Jane Hutt joined councillors, the Barry branch of the Royal British Legion, the public and representatives from partner organisations in laying floral tributes.

Father Ben Andrews officiated at the ceremony which saw the observation of the nationwide two-minute silence at 11am.

A further ceremony was held at the Memorial to the Merchant Seamen of Barry at 11am on Monday, November 11.
