POPULAR funeral director Nicola Ellis of The Vale Funeral Service has applied to take part in the Santa & Elf Run in aid of Welsh Hearts.
Nicola has been training constantly in Barry in readiness for taking part in her first ever run, and welcomes any sponsorship for this highly worthwhile cause.
She previously worked for over 20 years in the Ambulance Service before becoming a funeral director knows the importance of having lifesaving equipment available in public places.
Brian Foley, First Responder in Barry for the Welsh Ambulance Trust explains, in Wales there are approximately 5000 cardiac arrests outside hospital per year. There is a survival rate of three per cent. Where an AED (defibrillator) is used, the survival rate is 47-50 per cent.
Nicola said: "I’m more used to walking in front of the cortege in my top hat than running, but I am hoping that this run will be the first of many to support local charities."
To sponsor Nicki you can contact her on 01446 407962 or visit The Vale Funeral Service,181 Court Road, Barry. Your donations will be gratefully appreciated.
