A GROUP of Barry carers have raised more than £800 after completing the Alzheimer Society’s Memory Walk last month.
Bellavista nursing home workers Gemma O’Donovan, Tanya McGill and Leighanne Giles were joined on the 10km stroll by Arthur Kingswell whose wife Dawn, a resident at the home, has been diagnosed with the condition for five years.
Gemma’s nephew Callum Wallace and niece Aaliyah joined the team on the walk in honour of a family member who suffered with the illness and to support all those who live with effects of Alzheimer’s.
Gemma said: “On the day itself the weather was cold, wet and windy, but that did not dampen our spirits.
“The atmosphere was great and we all enjoyed participating.
“We would like to thank our families, friends and colleagues for the kind donations and messages of support and encouragement.”
