Credit where credit was due

A NEW pop-up office has opened up in Barry with the aim of tackling financial exclusion.
Pupils from Cadoxton primary school joined Cardiff & Vale Credit Union volunteers and staff, partner organisations, and Vale councillors to see Vale AM and Welsh Government Finance minister Jane Hutt declare the Holton Road-based facility officially open on Friday, October 11.
The office is open from 9.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday, initially for six months, with the idea of opening a permanent office in the next year.
Cardiff & Vale Credit Union chairwoman, Maureen Greening said the facility would mean people would not have to travel into the city and there would be an increase in the number of people able to use the office.
She said: “It offers the full range of services and Holton Road is a great spot.”
Vale AM Jane Hutt said: “The Welsh Government is committed to supporting credit unions in Wales and has invested in them since 2000. This is because we recognise the important contribution credit unions can make in tackling financial exclusion, especially in communities where disadvantage persists.”
