BARRY woman Kirsty Rogers ran the Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of her grandfather on what would have been his 69th birthday on Sunday, October 6.
Her grandfather Ken Rogers, who died of Leukaemia in June 2000, founded the Dolphin Bar on Barry Island.
Kirsty, 28, raised £385 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in Wales by taking part in the 13.1mile race in a time of three hours, three minutes and 47 seconds.
“It was harder than I thought it was going to be,” she said.
“It’s given me something to work on, so hopefully next year I can go on and beat it.”
You can still sponsor Kirsty at www.justgiving.com/kirsty-rogers4, by texting the code KENR69 followed by £1, £5 or any other amount to 70070, or behind the bar at the Dolphin Bar.
