STARS IN A REASONABLY PRICED CAR: The Tyler family turn Lightening McQueen into a people carrier (1143893)
MOTORISTS were forced to stop in their tracks when two true Hollywood super Cars drove into town to share the limelight with a Barry family.
Disney’s Cars superstars Lightning McQueen and best friend Mater the tow truck arrived in Queen Street, Barry, to meet up with Darren and Claire Tyler and their six children – after Darren entered a Team McQueen Facebook group competition to win a star visit.
The ‘Cars’ impersonators are the creation of Newport dads Anthony Bindon, 32, and Matt Stanton, 39, who use their star vehicles to raise money for charitable causes.
The pair built the cars to initially delight and fascinate their young sons who deal with autistic spectrum disorder and brain damage.
Dad-of-six Darren Tyler, 34, said he had given the competition a go as the children, aged between three and 17 years, were big Cars fans.
He said: “My boy has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and when we put the Cars films on he sits there and is quiet.
“When the film finishes he’s his normal demonic self.
“I’d forgotten about the competition and then I had an email off Lightning McQueen. I couldn’t believe it.
“The cars are absolutely brilliant.
“Mater is definitely my favourite.”
Mum Claire, 36, added: “I think it’s amazing.
“I think Darren was the most excited.”
