£650,000 worth of extra funding, has been approved for repairs and improvements to Vale schools pending full council approval.
Councillors will decide later this month whether to approve the projects.
Barry’s Holton Primary school would receive £30,000 for over boarding ceiling and another £15,000 for a boiler upgrade. Bryn Hafren comprehensive and Barry Comprehensive would each receive £120,000 for replacement boilers. £100,000 would go to Ysgol St Curig to fund roofing works including replacing defective timbers. Penarth school - Albert Primary school would get a £105,000 cut to pay for listed building repairs in addition to £30,000 which has already been allocated to the school to replace some of the windows.
Fairfield Primary School would get a £160,000 share of the funding to pay for a replacement flat roof.
Bryn Hafren and Barry Comprehensive boilers would be replaced with high efficiency condensing boilers and re-roofing works would increase insulation, both of which would reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions from these schools.
