6th Barry Sea Scout reunion
12:02pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
THE 6th Barry (All Saints) Sea Scout troop was originally formed prior to the Great War, but when its scoutmaster Major Hammond joined the army, it was disbanded.
It was reformed again in 1933, with Edward Noble as the GSM, and J A Grace, the Rectors Church Warden as the Chairman. From when records exist.
To mark the 80 year anniversary this year there is to be a reunion for its former members which will be held on Saturday, September 21, at noon with a buffet at The St Nicholas Scout Hall.
The old log books and photographs will be on display, to jog memories of very happy days in the troop.
Any ex-members who would like to attend, and join those flying in from the United Arab Emirates, America and Italy, should contact the former Group Scout Leader Philip Walters by email, email@example.com or telephone 01446 741498.
The photograph was taken on a visit to Milford Haven during the summer camp held at Landshipping in 1974.
The campsite on the Cleddau estuary, where much time was spent sailing and canoeing. Members will no doubt remember and enjoy recounting with others their overnight patrol expeditions hiking, canoeing and rowing on the Haven, around its estuaries.
