Police appeal after Barry youngster assaulted by eight men

BARRY police are appealing for information after a 16-year-old male was assaulted on Ffordd Cwm Cidi by around eight men.
The incident happened on Ffordd Cwm Cidi near its junction with Pontypridd Road in Barry around 10.30pm on Thursday, August 29,
The victim had been walking his girlfriend down Ffordd Cwm Cidi and crossed Pontypridd Road where she was being picked up. On the way he passed two cars parked in a car park near the bowling green and tennis court on Ffordd Cwm Cidi. One car was red and the other was a silver/grey Ford shaped like a new style Ka.
There were around eight men in their early 20s present and while the victim waited for his girlfriend to be picked up the red car left, driving up Pontypridd Road towards Barry town centre.
As the victim walked back up Ffordd Cwm Cidi he was approached by three males, one of whom assaulted him, knocking him to the ground. He was then assaulted by the others.
A short time later the men made off in the silver/grey car onto Pontypridd Road.
Police have issued a description of one of the assailants. He is white, around 25 years old with brown eyes and blonde curly hair.
He wore a black tank top, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers with white soles. He also wore a navy blue ‘snap back’ base-ball cap with a red peak which was worn backwards.
Detective Constable Rachel Knowles of Barry CID said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim who suffered minor injuries to his head. "We are appealing for any information about this assault or for any witnesses who may have seen either of the cars or their occupants when they were parked on Ffordd Cwm Cidi.”
