Island car park completed

A NEW 550 space car park and events area has been completed at Barry Island as part of the Barry Regeneration Scheme.
The Vale Council has completed the "meanwhile use" car park at the former Butlins site, Nell’s Point.
It is now open to the public at a cost of £1 per hour or £4 for the day.
The car park is the first stage in a programme of works which concentrating on the eastern promenade.
The authority has submitted the necessary planning application for the works which include repairs to the eastern shelter, landscaping, new pathways, a new toilet block, a water feature, beach access improvements, a covered events space and beach huts.
Vale Council cabinet member for regeneration, innovation planning and transport, Cllr Lis Burnett said: “I’m very pleased to see this work completed and I think this car park and events area will be a very popular starting point for visiting Barry Island.
"Visitors will see the unique new elements which the council will be adding to the eastern promenade as part of the programme and we hope that everyone is as excited as we are about the progress being made."
