THE Families First and Communities First fund, has been assisting Vale school parents.
The Vale Council-administered Putting Families First groups run weekly offering a wide range of information and activities to support family life.
Sessions offered include information from the Citizen Advice Bureau and Family Information Service, First Aid, courses to help support children’s learning as well as adult education sessions.
Project coordinator, Lynne Osborne, said: “We are really lucky to have this programme in the Vale. I have seen parents become more involved with their child’s learning and benefit from taking part in a host of activities to support parenting and family life.”
One parent said: “I owe everything to this project – I would not be where I am today without it. It’s given me the confidence to take part in activities with the school’s parent group.”
Crèche facilities are provided where possible so anyone who wishes to take part, can.
Extra crèche staff are currently being recruited as demand for places increases.
