A BARRY woman is vying for the chance to be crowned Welsh Digital Hero 2013, but she needs your vote to click on victory.
Philippa Davies co-runs Barry-based Wordpress Users Wales – a learning network that runs free workshops where web pros mix up with Wordpress enthusiasts of every description.
Wordpress Users Wales has built a vital and engaged learning community around Wordpress that addresses the lack of women and people aged over 50 embracing technology and learning how to code.
TalkTalk’s search for the nation’s Digital Heroes has discovered three deserving local candidates who will go head to head to win a £5,000 technology grant to help further their cause.
Candidates have been shortlisted from hundreds of entries for the great work they do using technology and it's now up to the public to cast their votes online to name their Digital Heroes of 2013.
The winning candidate from each region will be honoured at a ceremony at the House of Commons and will win a £5,000 grant. They will also join regional winners from around the UK to have their project judged by an esteemed panel to be in with a chance of being awarded the title of Digital Hero 2013 and receiving £10,000 of funding.
Judges are TalkTalk chairman Sir Charles Dunstone, Baroness Lane-Fox, Go ON UK Chair and Lloyd Embley, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror.
