St Richard Gwyn RC High School "delighted" with GCSE results

ST RICHARD Gwyn RC High School pupils celebrated another year of bumper GCSE results on Thursday, August 22.
Every one of the 118 pupils sitting their GCSE’s at the school achieved at least one GCSE grade. Around 80 per cent of pupils also achieved five A* to C grades.
Head teacher Mike Clinch said he was “delighted” with this year's results.
"It's a reflection of all the hard work that the kids and teachers have put in and we are very pleased," he said.
"We are a little bit down on last year, but last year we were absolutely exceptional compared to where we were years ago.
"It's a very satisfying day for us.”
Alex Moss was one of the highest achievers of the school with ten A*'s, an A and a D and is now set to study Maths, Chemistry and Biology at St David's College.
"I'm really happy with my results as I wasn't expecting it," she said.
"I was in shock when I saw my results.
"I didn't expect to do so well."
She added that she hopes to study genetics or science in the future.
Angelina Hoyle said she was “gobsmacked” when she found out she had four A*'s, four A's and a B.
She achieved A*'s in IT, PE, RE and Welsh, A's in Science, English Language and Literature, and Geography, with a B on Maths.
"I didn't expect these results and they are better than I expected," she said.
Angela, who collected her results with her younger brother Harry, added:
"I'm now going to St David's College to study Geography, Biology, Law and Welsh and will hopefully be a lawyer in the future."
Ashley Steer achieved two A*'s in Physics and RE, six A's in PE, Maths, Welsh, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, and three B's in English Language and Literature, and ICT.
"I wasn't that nervous before getting my results this morning, I was more nervous last week,” he said.
Sarah Long picked up her results with her friend Sian Hampson and achieved an A*, an A, two B's and four C's.
“I found it hard during my GCSE’s as I’ve got dyslexia, but I feel on top of the world with my results,” she said.
