A SCOUT hall in Barry is to get a new lease of life courtesy of companies working on the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Castleland Renewal Area project.
The scout hall, on the corner of Everard Street and Holton Road, will receive new double glazed PVC windows and be re-rendered. The new render will weatherproof the building and give it a bright new look.
The companies contributing to the refurbishment of the scout hall are Pinit Building and Civil Engineering Limited; Tony G Harris & Sons Building Contractors Ltd; Mister Windows; Willis Construction; AML Scaffolding and SPS Envirowall.
The scout hall is home to the 5th Barry Sea Scout Group and assistant group scout leader, Chris Parsons, said: “As we are a charity we take part in many fundraising events throughout the year to pay for the upkeep of the hall and improve our facilities, so we are thrilled with this wonderful gesture and would like to sincerely thank the council’s Renewal Area Team and the companies who have agreed to undertake the work.”
The hall has recently also become home to a playgroup for children aged from two to five years old, which is open Monday–Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm and there are plans to make the hall available for hire to local people.
