South Wales’ Police Commissioner, Alun Michael, delivers his plan

PLAN: The Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales, Alun Michael,
THE Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales, Alun Michael, has set out his priorities, with the publication of the Police and Crime Plan.
The Plan sets out 13 priorities that Mr Michael will look to tackle in partnership with South Wales Police, local councils and other organisations.
Anti-social behaviour, clear communications, working with victims, youth offending, tackling violence against women and girls and tackling online abuse are all priorities the Commissioner will look to tackle in the before the next election in 2016.
Mr Michael said: “The publication of the Police and Crime Reduction Plan is an important step to show the areas of work I want to tackle in the next few years. I will work in partnership with the Chief Constable to look at these issues, as well as local councils, criminal justice organisations and other groups.
“However, this plan is an ever moving piece of work, and other priorities may be added, as and when they arise. I do not want this to be a document that is simply left on the shelf to gather dust. Instead, this will be a blueprint of how I will work in the next few years, and I want the public and all our partners to help to develop our thinking.”

Mr Michael continued: “Because of the change of election date from May to November, there has only been a limited time to put together the plan. I am grateful for the engagement of the Chief Constable and his team in assisting with this. Nevertheless, I want to make sure this is an ongoing piece of work which will be of value to us all.
“It is important to hear the views of the public before finalising this plan for publication by March 31. I want to know what people think of the priorities, and the outcomes I want to achieve, and welcome any comments there may be.”
