NO traces of horse DNA have been found in food supplied by the Vale council’s catering service, the council can confirm.

Tests have been carried out on products available at schools, day centres, lunch clubs and care homes.

The council proactively contacted its suppliers in the wake of the horse meat scandal, to reassure residents that no products have been affected.

Test results confirm that no equine DNA is present in the beef products supplied to the council for its food services.

Cllr Neil Moore, leader of Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “We understand that residents may have concerns in light of the recent revelations that horse meat has been discovered in beef products in some outlets across the UK.

“Tests have been carried out to verify that meat products supplied by the council do not contain horse DNA. We can assure residents that our catering service is unaffected.

“We will continue to monitor this situation closely.”
