FISH and chip connoisseurs are being invited to tuck in at a Barry takeway in support of a cancer survivor’s charity on Saturday, February 16.

Gourmet Fish and Chip shop staff, on Barry Road, Cadoxton are pledging each £2.50 cost of a portion of fish and chips to Karen’s Cause - a Barry-based charity established by 32-year-old mum Karen Holroyd.

Karen’s Cause is aiming to help bring a CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System - a non-invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of cancerous and non-cancerous tumours - currently unavailable in Wales.

Chip shop owner Curtis Shier said he wanted to support the cause because he had lost family members to cancer and seen the effects of regular chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

He said: “There should be a machine in every hospital.

“Everyone gets touched by cancer.

“It’s a game of numbers.”

He appealed for other businesses to rally and support Karen’s Cause with donations and raffle prizes.

Customers can purchase their charity supporting takeaway at the Gourmet Fish and Chip shop from 2pm to midday and 5pm to 10pm this Saturday, February 16.
