A BARRY youngster has helped a charity set the wheels in motion with a campaign to help keep senior citizens warm through winter.

Eight-year-old Ella Hadley, of Barry, a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Pen-y-Garth in Penarth, rode away with first prize in the form of a new bike in a competition to design a poster for national charity Age Cymru.

Ella won the junior category of the Age Cymru Bobble Day poster competition for its Spread the Warmth campaign.

Ella said: “Emma and Iwan from Age Cymru came to our school assembly.

“They said someone from Ysgol Gymraeg Pen-y-Garth had won a bike as part of the Bobble Day poster competition and we were all very excited.

“I couldn’t believe it when Emma showed everyone the winning design and it turned out that I had won the bike.

“It was a very nice surprise.”

The bike was donated to Age Cymru by Don Skene Cycles on Newport Road in Cardiff.
