A BARRY teenager has made it through to the final of a prestigious modelling competition - and hopes it will help pave the way to a future catwalk career.

Fourteen-year-old Millie Charles-Davies has reached the Grand Final of Miss Galaxy Wales, and will be strutting her stuff on the catwalk on March 1.

Millie said she is 'excited but nervous' about the event, at the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire.

"It's a new experience and hopefully I'll meet a lot of new people and make new friends," she said.

The Ysgol Bro Morgannwg pupil, who already holds the title of Miss Teen Galaxy Barry, added: "I would love to be signed up by an agency and do lots of different kinds of photoshoots. I really enjoy it, and it’s something I would love to do as a full time career."

Millie, who has been sponsored by Gary Watson Motor Company, said her idol is Cara Delevingne, who has modelled for the likes of Burberry and DKNY – and added she would love to follow in her footsteps.

"I know it's really hard and competitive to get into, but hopefully starting at a young age I will be able to do a lot more as it’s a short career.

"The winner of Miss Teen Galaxy Wales will travel to the USA, with contestants from all over the world, to compete in the International Final," she added.

"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can’t wait for it."

Millie has chosen the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth as her designated charity.

"My nan died of cancer two years ago and my uncle is just recovering from it now, so I thought I would choose it as it’s a cause close to my heart," she said.
