TRAVELLER sites in the Vale will be one of the things Vale councillors will look into after they agreed to work on a replacement Deposit Local Development Plan.

Councillors agreed the resolution at an Extraordinary Council Meeting last Wednesday (January 23), by a majority of 36 votes.

Cllr Neil Moore said the replacement plan would look into traveller sites in the Vale.

"We will probably have to look at more than one," he said.

Eight councillors voiced their opposition but chose to abstain from voting.

The report presented to full council had already been noted by cabinet, the planning committee and the economy and environment scrutiny committee.

The replacement plan will now be prepared, with a starting point at the LDP Preferred Strategy implemented in 2007 - before being put out for public consultation.

Cllr Lis Burnett said: "The anticipated replacement will be published for statutory consultation in autumn 2013.

"Future consultations will be as accessible as possible. Details will be made available as work on a replacement plan progresses."
