Bright sparks needed by electrical company in Barry
9:00am Saturday 26th January 2013 in News
A BARRY company is bucking the economic trend and is looking to take on new employees.
A. Bennett Electrical and Mechanical Services, which recently opened an office in Palmerston Workshops, is appealing for qualified electricians and mates to meet the demand they are facing in the Vale of Glamorgan.
A. Bennett Electrical has been awarded a contract to work on social housing in the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as Tredegar and Bridgend, in a bid to bring the houses up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS).
Adam Tanner, who has been with the Gloucester-based company since it was set up over eight years ago, said that the company needed a larger work force to cope with demand.
"We have got the work but not the guys to do it," he said.
"We are in a role reversal to other companies and it's a good situation to be in.
"I want to try and promote some good news that we are here and we have got work for electricians and mates."
He added: "In South Wales there is a very high demand to bring social housing up to the standards of the WHQS."
The company is recruiting qualified electricians and mates to carry out part and full rewires to occupied domestic properties.
Applicants should have previous experience in the social housing sector and be honest, reliable, flexible and organisd.
Adam, commercial director of A. Bennett Electrical, said that the company needed 'about another ten' electricians to work for them in Barry.
"We want to build a good relationship with our staff," he said.
"We want to recruit locally from the area."
