Success for Barry pupil Liam at WOMAA Welsh Championships

ON Sunday, January 6, at Western Leisure Centre in Ely in Cardiff, the WOMAA Welsh Championships in martial arts took place. Liam Rees, 15, who is a pupil at St Richard Gwyn school in Barry, attended as part of WMA Kickboxing.

Liam dominated the boys advanced over 5ft 2in section and took first place in point sparring. Moving up to the men's 85 kilos and under category, Liam - having to compete against much heavier competitors - took an impressive 2nd place.

Following in his footsteps, Liam's younger brother Jenson, six, took 2nd place in points sparring too. Liam thanked his sponsors Autopro and Glamorgan Plumbing.
