Give postie Roger a first class accolade

TODAY we ask the people of Barry to get behind our campaign to see anti-junk hero postie Roger Annies crowned Postman of the Year.

This month the Royal Mail launched its First Class People Awards - to reward workers who have proved they have the public at heart.

Roger, 45, became a national hero after his story - first told by the Barry & District News - became a UK-wide talking point.

The dad-of-one was suspended for four weeks by the Royal Mail after he delivered a form to residents on his Gibbonsdown round which told them how to stop unaddressed junk mail being delivered to their door.

After a national outcry of support for Roger he was reinstated - but rather than being returned to his round, he was given a backroom job. He is currently off work with stress.

You can nominate Roger for the Royal Mail's First Class People Award by clicking on the link below and filling in the form.

Alternatively you can call 029 2039 2500.

Closing date for nominations is January 8, 2007.
