A MAN has appeared in court charged with arson and theft, following an incident at a Barry business in June during which £13,000 worth of damage was caused.
Lee Andrew Davies, aged 29, of Woodland Place in Merthyr Tydfil, appeared at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates Court on Tuesday (December 18).
He pleaded not guilty to entering the GH Motor Factors Ltd (part of Welsh Autoparts Distribution Ltd) premises on Broad Street as a trespasser, and stealing parts and products to the value of £4145.30 between June 15 and June 17 this year.
He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of arson at the same premises, between the same dates, and causing £13,000 worth of damage by fire.
The court heard that he was charged with the offences on November 2.
Davies was released on bail to return to magistrates court for a committal hearing on January 9.
Under the bail conditions he must reside at Woodland Place, Merthyr, and must not to contact any employees of GH Motor Factors or Welsh Autoparts Ltd.
