FOOTIE fans can kick off a Saturday of sport with the official Barry launch of Eddie May: My Story.

Partner Marlene Raybould will recount former Cardiff City and Barry Town manager Eddie's memories at Barry Library, King Square, from 10.30am on Saturday (December 8).

Fifteen per cent of the book's sales will be donated to Holton Road-based charity Ty Hapus.

Ghostwriter Gary Wharton and Eddie completed the book two weeks before Eddie died in April at the age of 68.

Eddie May: My Story, costs £8.99, and is available to buy from Marco's Café, Barry Island, Cardiff City FC’s stadium superstore, and at the library launch event.

* WHY not make a day of it and head off to Jenner Park for the afternoon to see Barry Town entertain Ely Rangers in the third round of the Welsh Cup.

The S4/C cameras will be on hand, with highlights of the derby cup collision earmarked for the next episode of 'Sgorio.'

The Barry Town Supporters' Committee is appealing to football enthusiasts across the local community to come out and support the tie, with the carrot of a potential draw against Welsh Premier opposition for the winners.

With Cardiff City in action on Friday evening at Blackburn Rovers, and the televised Manchester derby held over until Sunday afternoon, the BTSC hopes the attendance will be boosted by a number of neutrals or newcomers taking in their local team for the first time.

Among the festivities on Saturday afternoon, the BTSC will present the legendary Barry goalscorer Clive Ayres with his Barry Town Hall of Fame award pitchside.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm and the tie must be settled on the day, be it over 90 minutes, extra-time or by penalty kicks.

Entry on the gate is £5, with £3 concessions for OAPs and students. Accompanied children can attend for free with a paying adult.
