BARRY'S Remembrance Day Parade and Service is set to take place on Sunday, November 11.

Barry town council mayor, Cllr Les Sword and the chairman of the president of the Barry branch of the Royal British Legion are inviting the public to join them for the parade and the service to be held at the Memorial Hall and Theatre, Gladstone Road, Barry.

The parade - which will also include representatives from the Scouts and Guides, Army, Air and Sea Cadets and the St John Ambulance and Boys Brigade, together with ex-service personnel - gets under way from King Square at 10.30am.

Parade participants are requested to assemble at 10am ready for the start of the march.

The parade will head from King Square along Holton Road halting at the Civic Offices at 10.40am to lay wreaths at the Merchant Navy Memorial.

The parade then moves back onto Holton Road at 10.45am to the roundabout on Broad Street, taking the exit into Gladstone Road and turning left into the Memorial Hall and Theatre at the Cenotaph.

The outdoor service at the Cenotaph begins at 10.50am.

The Last Post will sound at 11am indicating the start of the two-minute silence.

When the silence has concluded, the bugler will sound Reveille when standards shall be raised.

The Lord Lieutenant (or Deputy Lord Lieutenant), the mayor and the President of the Royal British Legion (or his representative) will step forward together and lay the wreaths simultaneously, followed by the laying of wreaths by representatives of organisations present and the public.
