BARRY boxer Andrew Selby has donated a shirt signed by the Olympic GB Boxing team to help raise funds for local charity the Jamie Adamson Memorial Fund (www.JAMfund.co.uk)

Andrew, who reached the quarter-finals of the London Olympics in August, presented the framed shirt to JAM Fund founder Paul Adamson.

It is set to be auctioned off in a fundraiser for the charity, along with other sports memorabilia including an athletics vest signed by Steve Cram and a rugby ball signed by the Newport Gwent Dragons team.

Andrew, 23, said: "I chose to donate it to the JAM Fund as I wanted to support a local charity."

Paul Adamson, who set up the JAM Fund in 2005 in memory of his son Jamie, who died at the age of five in 2004, said the money raised from the auction would go towards the upkeep of the charity’s caravan at Manorbier Country Park in West Wales.

It offers free short breaks to families with children who are suffering from cancer and other conditions.

"It costs about £5,000 a year to run it and maintain it," said Paul.

"A lot of families make use of it for a week’s free holiday, and we have had so many positive comments this year.

"I want to thank Andrew for donating the shirt, Craig Smyth for contacting me, and everyone from Barry who continues to support the charity," he added.

Andrew thanked Simon Keating from Adam Framers on Glebe Street in Penarth, for framing the shirt free of charge.
