BARRY Youth Council welcomed many new members as it was successfully relaunched recently.
The Youth Council, which is open to all young peoples' groups in Barry, held its first AGM for a number of years on September 26.
Howard Provis, newly elected Secretary, said he was delighted with the recent response through the newspapers for the number of new member groups affiliating, and also the number of groups represented at the AGM.
Following the outline of the role of the BYC and a healthy discussion, a new constitution was agreed. Several good ideas were proposed to suggest ways forward and with the support of its members, the BYC would wish to implement as many as possible.
The committee for 2012-2013 was also proposed and agreed, with several new members joining those prepared to continue in post.
Following the meeting there was an opportunity for the representatives of each youth group to informally meet and greet over a buffet.
The next meeting, to be held on December 12, will be hosted by the Sea Cadets at HMS Cambria. Individuals and representatives from new groups would be welcome.
