More than 1500 Barry residents affected by power cut

MORE than 1500 Barry residents were affected by power cuts last week after an "underground cable fault".
Parts of Barry were affected by the power cuts between 2pm and 3pm last Thursday (October 18).
Public Relations officer for Western Power, Karen Welch said: "It was an underground cable fault and we had 1,600 customers lose supply for just over an hour.
"The area that was affected included the civic centre, shopping precinct and the leisure centre.
"Western Power Distribution engineers reacted quickly and within the hour all customers were back on supply via an alternative circuit."
She added that the problem had been resolved on Tuesday (October 23) this week.
"Our engineers located the fault and have made an excavation in the footpath in Broad Street and will carry out a repair to the cable joint which faulted due to normal wear and tear.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers."
