Emergency services search Barry Harbour
3:00pm Thursday 25th October 2012 in News By Sharon Harris
EMERGENCY services launched a full-scale search following a report a woman was stuck in mud at Barry's Old Harbour after 11.10pm on Sunday. (October 21)
An unknown male, in wet clothing, flagged down a motorist as he drove past Barry Island car park who said his girlfriend had gone into the water and he couldn't find her.
Police, the police helicopter. coastguard, the RNLI Barry Dock lifeboat, fire and ambulance all attended and carried out a search for the female until early hours, but failed to trace her.
The Coastguard mud rescue team from Barry Island searched on board the boats and the mud flats and one of the team needed assistance from his colleagues, at one point, as the mud trapped his legs.
A police spokeswoman said: "The unknown wet male had also disappeared - searches were carried out for him around Barry but with no luck.
"Despite all the emergency service efforts, nothing has come of it since - no missing female, no body found, and the man still not found."
