Saddled up for success!
 |
| DOUGH-NATION: Michelle Hughes from Brace's with Katy Williams, eight, from Barry who is a pupil at Romilly Junior School. |
A LOCAL horse riding club is saddling up its younger members to compete in local riding competitions, thanks to a donation from a family baker celebrating its 106th birthday.
Riders 2000 Riding Club based in Wenvoe, applied for a slice of Brace's Bakery Bread for the Community Birthday Fund' and was thrilled when they agreed to support them by purchasing five Brace's branded fleece rugs in the clubs corporate colours of navy, dark red and cream.
The rugs are traditionally used to keep horses warm and allow freedom of movement while adding a soft protective layer between the horses coat and the saddle, eliminating any discomfort in their neck and shoulder muscles.
They also work to keep out moisture while maintaining their coats to keep them shiny, ideal for summer competitions.
Claire Williams, treasurer of Riders 2000, said: "At Riders 2000 we teach pupils from eight up to 65 years of age with a wide range of ability.
"We are keen to encourage our younger members to participate in competitions and the new fleece rugs from Brace's alongside our new team saddlecloths we recently purchased will ensure all our competitors look like true professionals.
"We are extremely grateful to Brace's for donating funds to purchase these fleece rugs as it allows our members to feel as though they belong to a club and can feel a sense of pride when competing at shows which is fantastic for the future of our riding school."
Michelle Hughes, head of communications for Wales' favourite baker, said: "Brace's is keen to support the communities it serves through donations, sponsorships and attending events with a dedicated fun team'.
"As Brace's is celebrating its 106th birthday this year we have set up the Bread for the Community Birthday Fund' which has already helped over 100 schools and grass root organisations over the past year. We would love to hear from more deserving causes in the area.
