A LIVE broadcast of the Royal Opera's performance of Norma will be screened to the Memo Arts Centre on Monday, September 26.
This new production of Norma for The Royal Opera is distinguished by a cast of internationally renowned singers.
Bellini’s classic bel canto opera is full of melodies and opportunities for star singing. But it is especially known for Norma's showpiece aria, Casta diva. Alex Olle of Catalan theatre group La Fura dels Baus directs, bringing a modern edge to this tale of love, rivalry and betrayal, set against a backdrop of war driven by the extremes of a fanatically religious society.
Royal Opera music director Antonio Pappano conducts this cast, including Joseph Calleja as Norma’s secret lover, Pollione and Sonia Ganassi as the priestess Adalgisa, in a new production, which opens the 2016/17 Season.
Tickets for the performance at 7.15pm cost £15 in full and £12.50 for concessions.
