SENSATIONAL, feel-good musical MAMMA MIA! is coming going on its first UK tour and will have a five week run at Wales Millennium Centre.

Starting on October 11, 2016 the tour will conclude on November 13, 2016.

MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise. To date, it has been seen by more than 60 million people in 49 productions in 16 different languages. MAMMA MIA! The Movie is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film of all time and in the UK is the highest selling DVD of all time.

From West End to global phenomenon, the London production of MAMMA MIA! has now been seen by more than 10 per cent of the entire UK population. It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China.

Creator and producer Judy Craymer said: “It's fantastic that we have the opportunity to bring MAMMA MIA! back to Cardiff with the first UK Tour. With its feel-good story and the celebrated music of ABBA, MAMMA MIA! is fun for all the family. We look forward to welcoming audiences back, we know you're going to love it!"

Graeme Farrow, artistic and creative director at Wales Millennium Centre, said: “When MAMMA MIA! played here as part of its international tour, it became one of the most popular and fastest-selling productions in the history of the Centre. We’re delighted to welcome back such an internationally-acclaimed musical and continue our excellent reputation of being one of the best places outside of the West End for staging large-scale, hit musicals.”

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

The MAMMA MIA! UK Tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal and NGM.
