PENARTH-based playwright Katherine Chandler will adapt Hans Christian Andersen’s children’s classic The Princess and the Pea/Y Dywysoges a’r Bysen Fechan Fach to the Sherman Cymru.

This fun filled story for the under 7s and their families will be presented by Sherman Cymru and Theatr Iolo this Christmas.

Directed by Theatr Iolo’s Kevin Lewis, The Princess and the Pea/Y Dywysoges a’r Bysen Fechan Fach is the ideal treat for boys and girls aged 3-6, who love to hear stories, particularly about the mischief that can happen just before bed time.

Once upon a time there was a Prince who wanted to marry a Princess. But only a Real princess would do! Then one night during a horrible gusty storm, whirlwinds and flashes of lightning, a beautiful young girl arrives at the Castle soaking wet... Is she a real Princess? Find out in this playful, lively story with a prince, princesses, lots of mattresses and a tiny little pea.

Award-winning playwright Katherine Chandler has adapted this well-known title, which will tour across South Wales during November before returning to Sherman Theatre during December.

The actors will be performing the show in Welsh and English both at the Sherman and on tour. The Princess and the Pea/Y Dywysoges a’r Bysen Fechan Fach has been translated into Welsh by Welsh actor and writer, Ceri Elen.

Sherman Cymru is thrilled to be working in partnership with Theatr Iolo to further strengthen the work produced for younger people in both Welsh and English.

The show will be at the Sherman Theatre from December 7 to January 2, 2016.
