CRITICALLY acclaimed theatre company, Concept Players, will present 'O What a Beautiful Evening', a celebration of music from Rodgers and Hammerstein on Saturday, June 20.

They will perform an evening of classic songs from musicals including the much loved Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific, Carousel and The Sound of Music at The Paget Rooms, Penarth.

The works of these creative geniuses can be enjoyed by all the family, both young and old, with a wealth of unforgettable songs. There isn’t a song here you won’t know and won’t want to sing-along too.

The innovative and successful writing duo, composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, initiated what is considered the ‘golden age’ of musical theatre. Their wildly successful 1943 hit Oklahoma! spawned nearly 20 years of popular musical theatre collaborations. It was also the first of a new genre, the musical play, blending Rodgers' sophisticated style of musical comedy with Hammerstein's innovations in operetta.

Highly regarded as one of the most successful double acts in musical theatre, you can now re-live those wonderful films and shows made famous by greats like Julie Andrews, Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones and Mary Martin with timeless and joyful songs such as Climb Every Mountain, Some Enchanted Evening, There Ain’t Nothing like a Dame, You’ll Never Walk Alone and many more.

This delightful concert series is brought to you by the multi-talented Concept Players and follows the sell-out concert productions of Die Fledermaus and the recent hit production of HMS Pinafore. This national award winning theatre company have built a reputation for quality productions with professional excellence in choral singing and this dramatic musical celebration of classics will not disappoint.

Concept Players chairman Fiona Thomas said "We are very excited to present a concert of much loved classics. It will truly be Some Enchanted Evening".

Tickets for the Paget Rooms in Penarth are £10 and are available from the Concept Players website at concept-players.com or via the Box Office on 02920 490019.
