PENARTH-based Michelin star chef James Sommerin will demonstrate his fantastic cooking at the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival.

The award winning two day foodie extravaganza starts on Sunday, May 24 and will run across the May Bank Holiday weekend.

James Sommerin, who won his Michelin star as head chef at The Crown at Whitebrook in 2007, will appear on the Monday at 12.45pm in the Demo Theatre and will demonstrate his passion for food with distinct flavours and local heritage.

Welshman James and his wife Louise now own Restaurant James Sommerin at The Esplanade.

Thousands flock to the market town each year to sample the high quality artisan produce available and it is expected this year will be bigger than ever having moved from its normal October slot to spring.

John Davies, Festival chairman said: “We’re very excited to have James Sommerin on board as a guest demonstrator at the festival. He makes up a fantastic, not-to-be-missed line up.”

Those in search for foodie treats over the two days can enjoy an appetising food and drink tour exploring nearby farms and vineyards, a cookery school for children, a treasure hunt around the picturesque town and the chance to peruse 100 exhibitors showcasing exquisite local produce.
