AN innovative programme of public events which explore the issues relating to arts and health is coming to the Wales Millennium Centre.

Following on from the Anatomy Season in Cardiff, 2013, Clod Ensemble’s Performing Medicine Season 2015 is a series of workshops and talks that provide an opportunity to examine our expectations of the healthcare profession, to share responsibility for its evolution, and to enrich the ways in which we think about and experience our own bodies.

The next event in the series is called Written in the Body with Peggy Shaw on April 11.

In this workshop legendary performer Peggy Shaw describes how her recent solo performances have been inspired by her experiences of being in touch with her own body and by having a stroke.

Through a series of creative writing exercises participants will find the weird and wonderful stories hidden in their own bodies and consider how a person’s sense of identity might affect their experience of being in hospital.

Peggy Shaw is an award-winning performer, writer, teacher and producer from New York.

She co-founded the WOW Café Theatre in New York, and the theatre company Split Britches, with Lois Weaver and is recipient of many awards including a Stonewall Award and the Doris Duke Artist Award 2014.

The event runs from 2pm until 5pm and costs £5 and for more information please visit www.wmc.org.uk or call the ticket office on 02920 636464.
