Brother beyond

RISING pop stars Ben's Brother are coming to play at Cardiff Bay's The Point as part of their UK in April.

Last seen in the city last December supporting Wet Wet Wet at the CIA, Ben's Brother are currently on tour in the USA.

And, as well as having a great time on the road, performing to sell out crowds, the band have received a further boost.

A bubble gum company has decided to use their song Stutter for an advertising campaign.

The band's singles Beauty Queen, I Am Who I Am plus the new single Carry On have all been added to the Radio 2 play list and the band have found favour with DJs Jeremy Vine, Steve Wright and Chris Evans.

The band's main songwriter and front man Jamie Hartman has written songs for other artists, including Will Young and Emma Bunton.

The band name is a wry nod to the relationship Hartman had with his elder brother, cricketer Ben Hartman.

James explains why their first album, which reached No14 in the UK charts last summer, was called Beta Male : "I always felt like the beta male in our home. The alpha role definitely went to my brother. He would hand out CDs of my songs with Ben's Brother written on the front!"

BenÕs Brother play at The Point on Thursday, April 17 with tickets costing £10 in advance and are available from the box office on 029 2046 0873.
