CD review: Song For The Night EP by Silkwinders

Song for the Night EP by Silkwinders Song for the Night EP by Silkwinders

Taking time out from other musical projects Andrea Webster (Our Missing Cat) and Les King (The Katie Winter) have collaborated as Silkwinders to produce a four-track acoustic flavoured ep titled Song for the Night.

The ep is a result of how musicians can transfer ideas online before meeting and producing the final work, and although Andrea and Les made use of modern technology to communicate that is where the modernism ends.

Silkwinders approach to the release is a combination of minimal acoustic arrangements and reflective harmonies from Andrea and Les. The pair paint poetic imagery in the minds eye of childhood days and hopes for the future through songs such as Paper Boats and Salvation, while the focus is more personal on With My Own Eyes and Song for the Night.

The pair’s voices couldn’t be anymore different but their vocal match is almost like a magical combination of Jake Thackray meets Kate Bush, making Song for the Night delightful and irresistible.
