Blues heaven for guitar afficionados

TALENTED blues musicians Mike Markey and Nick Jones are invited by the Islwyn Acoustic Guitar Club to play at the Crosskeys Hotel next Friday evening.

Markey and Jones hail from Ebbw Vale and Crickhowell respectively.

They play blues, rock 'n' roll, country, jazz, ragtime and folk and have been gigging regularly since 2003, playing at festivals and blues clubs around the UK.

The duo have supported acts such as Walter Trout, John Renbourn and Mike Sanchez.

Markey sings and plays blues harp while Jones plays fingerstyle and bottleneck blues.

As well as writing their own songs, they refresh many older classics, lending their own style to every tune.

The evening kick off at 7pm with a workshop for guitarists with Jones.

This is followed at 8pm when club members and visitors have the floor. The main concert then starts at 8.45pm.

Tickets cost £6 (£5 for club members and students) and will be available on the night but may be pre-booked by ringing the Rob Southall on 01495 270078.
