SCOTTISH rock legends Simple Minds will play Cardiff’s St David’s Hall in 2017 with a special unplugged show.

Simple Minds have been responsible for some of the most innovative and enduring anthems in rock music since forming in 1977, and will perform many of their era-defining songs on the road to be performed in stripped-back style in support of their new acoustic album.

As a band that formed in the punk era and found their mojo through a shared love of Bowie, fans can expect to hear classics such as Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, Waterfront, Chelsea Girl, Sanctify Yourself, Alive & Kicking and the US No.1 hit Don’t You (Forget About Me).

‘The concert stage is where Simple Minds do their best work,” says frontman Jim Kerr, “it is where we forged our distinctive live reputation. For that reason we look forward immensely to taking Simple Minds Acoustic out on tour.

“Don't be fooled by the acoustic tag however, these shows will be as energetic and passionate as ever. With a great live line-up and a set-list full of iconic Minds’ songs, it is bound to be a unique and memorable experience for both band and fans. See you there.”

Support on the UK tour is provided by Welsh multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and author The Anchoress (aka. Catherine Anne Davies), whose debut album Confessions of a Romance Novelist has been nominated for the forthcoming Welsh Music Prize.
