BEANS on Toast will be heading out on his UK winter tour this month, taking his eighth studio album on the road.

He will perform at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, on January 25.

Beans on Toast's eighth studio album, A Spanner in the Works, was released in December 2016 and is one of the first times he has used more technology to create the sound.

While the new recordings still have Beans’ trademark three chord folk songs, this time around each track is layered with beats, loops, synths and samples, spanning different genres and styles, making it a new sound for the artist.

The album was recorded over a single weekend with old friend and long time collaborator Scampi Dan.

Talking about the making of A Spanner In The Works, Beans On Toast said: “For this album I came up with the name first and had the urge to do something little different when recording it. The idea of doing it without guitars seemed like a suitable spanner.

"The sounds and rhythms you can make on a computer are absolutely endless and we had a lot of fun exploring that world, as it’s interesting to see how many twisting paths a song can go down after it’s been written.

"I’m super proud of this album, it’s a bit different but to me it’s still folk music and it sits well with all my other albums, past and future.”

With his eighth album taking a different turn, fans are reminded that the shows will still feature all the instruments being played live on stage and there won't be the use of just laptops on stage.

And as part of Independent Venue Week, Beans on Toast will be welcoming local artists to perform with him and tickets should cost no more than £10 to support independent venues.
