THE Catholic Church Hall in Epping was ablaze with colour when the Epping Horticultural Society held its annual show on Saturday.o

Show manager Lawrence Lewis was pleased with both the number of entries and the number of visitors who helped make the day a success.

Entries included flowers and vegetables, as well as tempting cookery efforts.

Hugh Webb won the Daphne Jenkins Cup (best allotment) and the Harlow Shield (most points in the vegetable sections); Jean Hickling won the Geoff Ball Cup (best half-plot allotment); Sue Barnes won the Gooday Cup (best collection of vegetables) and the National Vegetable Society Medal (best vegetable entry); Margaret Patrick and Claire Platais won the Letitia Berry Salver (most points in cookery section); Linda Wheeler won the Leisure Shield (most points in section A), Epping Rose Bowl (most points in rose classes), Ladies Shield (lady with most points in horticultural classes) and Royal Horticultural Society Banksian Medal (winner of the most prize money in horticultural classes); Shirley Lewis won the Fred Bowles Memorial Cup (best spray chrysanthemum); and Ron Green won the Crowther Cup (best pot plant) and Treasurer's Cup (best in show exhibit).
