IT’S been five years since former Strangelove frontman Patrick Duff’s debut solo album Luxury Problems, but they’ve clearly not been wasted.

Space prevents a full biog-update but his has been a full and nourishing musical journey.

The Mad Straight Road is far and away the most accomplished music he has created in a career spanning 20-odd years (and some of them were, by his own admission, most odd); there are beautiful outlaw hymns here, coal-black fugitive pieces, pretty Disneyesque ditties ... songs with history and depth and spit and vinegar, masterfully produced by Phantom Limb’s Stew Jackson.
